Il villaggio operaio di Panzano fu costruito nel 1908 per volere dei fratelli Cosulich, fondatori del Cantiere Navale Triestino. Esso rientra nel modello delle cosidette company town, agglomerati urbani autosufficienti e funzionali agli impianti industriali diffusi sul territorio italiano da inizio Novecento. Erano insediamenti avevano precise caratteristiche architettoniche e urbanistiche e garantivano ai lavoratori e alle loro famiglie i servizi essenziali. In Italia Panzano rappresenta un esempio unico, poiché mantiene dopo oltre cento anni, la sua funzione  legata alla moderna Fincantieri.

Panzano worker’s village was built in 1908 at the behest of the Cosulich brothers, founders of the Trieste Shipyard. It fits in the so-called company towns model: self-sustaining urban agglomerations, instrumental to the industrial plants spread throughout Italy since the early twentieth century. They were settlements with precise architectural and urban features and guaranteed essential services to workers and their families. Panzano represents a unique example in Italy because it maintains, over one-hundred years later, its function linked to the modern Fincantieri.
