La chiesa di San Polo fu costruita nel 1756 sulle rovine di una cappella privata dedicata a San Giuseppe. Le sue linee architettoniche sono essenziali e i materiali impiegati alla costruzione derivano dalla demolizione di un vicino ponte romano sull’Isonzo. Il campaniletto che sormonta il frontone della facciata della chiesa è privo della campanella, che fu presa da Gabriele D’Annunzio, durante la famosa spedizione verso la città di Fiume.

San Polo Church was built in 1756 on the ruins of a private chapel dedicated to San Giuseppe. Its architectural lines are clear and the materials used derive from the demolition of a nearby Roman bridge over Isonzo River. The small bell tower that surmounts the pediment of the church facade is devoid of the bell, which was taken by Gabriele D’Annunzio, during the famous expedition to Fiume.
