Costruito in epoca protostorica con funzione difensiva e sito in posizione strategica, il castelliere faceva parte di una rete di comunicazione tra i vari altri villaggi protostorici. La Rocca, invece fu edificata durante il medioevo e, oggi ospita un museo che conserva reperti e materiali relativi alla geologia dell’ambiente carsico.

Built in protohistoric times with a defensive function and strategically located, the Castelliere di Monfalcone, was part of a communication network between the various castles. The perimeter wall was 1.80 meters thick. The Fortress of Monfalcone, however, was built in the medieval period and today houses the museum which conserves finds and materials relating to the geology of the karst environment.
