Presso il borgo del Villaggio del Pescatore si trova uno dei più importanti giacimenti paleontologici italiani. Agli anni ‘90 risale la scoperta dello scheletro dell’adrosauro Antonio, appartenente alla specie Tethyshadros Insularis, ora conservato apresso il Museo di Storia Naturale di Trieste. Nel sito sono stati rinvenuti anche i resti dello scheletro di un dinosauro della stessa specie, di coccodrilli, di pesci e di un rettile volante, tutti risalenti al Mesozoico.

The paleontological site in Villaggio del Pescatore is one of the most important Italian paleontological deposits. Here, in the 1990s, was found a Hadrosaur skeleton, belonged to the Tethyshadros Insularis species. It was nicknamed Antonio and now is preserved in the Museum of Natural History of Trieste. On the same site were also found the anatomical remains of the skeleton of another dinosaur, nicknamed Bruno, as well as those of a flying reptile, crocodiles, fishes and crustaceans, all dating back to the Mesozoic period.
